Wincing slightly as he noticed that Mick was missing a full set of fingers, he was reminded of the still-stinging gash across his own face. After all, Kate was still laying on the couch, barely able to move, and his assumed responsibility of his diminutive classmate wasn't something that he was taking lightly.
He allowed his grip to relax slightly, but still felt as though he were in a state of hyper-awareness. Willy Apgar felt a sense of relief in that fact, though he didn't lower his weapon. For now, there would be no shotgun battle no shotguns at dawn, as the old saying went.
So this was good - for the time being anyway, it didn't appear like Mick was going to open up on him with his own shotgun.
